OceanCamps

This year, the foundation offered nine of its own camps and four ‘SpecialCamps’ with cooperation partners. These included the ‘SEASIDE – greenD Summer School on Sustainability in Design Education’ (https://green-d.org/) in 2024. Design students from all over Germany spent eight days exploring the connection between design and ocean protection and transferred what they had experienced and learnt into sustainable design education.

A team from the Young DGAP (German Council on Foreign Relations) led by Dr Kira Vinke was on board for the first time in 2024. The participants shed light on a wide range of ocean governance topics, from climate change and migration to deep-sea mining, underwater noise pollution and fisheries.

The second round of the ocean reporting research fellowship will begin in September 2024, giving six young journalists from all over Germany the opportunity to focus their journalistic work on the ocean. 2023 The scholarship holders compiled a comprehensive dossier for the daily newspaper TAZ
