Since July 2021, visitors of the Senckenberg Naturmuseum Frankfurt can marvel at one of the most productive ecosystems of our planet: In an artificial Indo-Pacific coral reef, more than 3000 organisms cavort, which taxidermists in cooperation with scientists have depicted true to life. A mind-changing experience that is not only fun, but also thought-provoking.
The exhibition area was realized in cooperation with the Okeanos Foundation for the Sea. For this purpose, founder Dieter Paulmann opened his treasure chamber and provided previously unpublished film material from numerous dives. Okeanos employee Eliane Koller produced interviews with protagonists in Tahiti who explain their relationship to coral reefs and give the viewers an impression of how closely human life and survival is linked to healthy marine ecosystems.
