As a project group of the Waves of Action Initiative of the Okeanos Foundation for the Sea, young people from all over Europe have come together with the aim of reporting on the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice. From young people for young people. Why? Because they realised that even those who are actively involved in marine conservation and have an interest in the topic hardly know anything about this conference. Moreover, the information they were able to find was not very helpful. Between scientific jargon, bureaucratic phrases and complicated words, it was difficult to recognise what the conference is actually about, who is taking part, what the goals are and how to find out more about it in an easily understandable and accessible way.
The young people, some of whom will be attending the conference themselves, have been preparing for months: Making interview requests, researching background knowledge, applying for accreditation and getting an overview of the variety of events and topics during the conference. Live and on site, the young people will provide insights via Instagram, conduct interviews, listen critically and ask various actors questions.
