SeagrassGuards – Waves of Action Project

The SeagrassGuards are a Waves of Action project group with the aim of giving seagrass meadows a voice. Seagrass meadows provide unique ecosystem services: CO2 storage, coastal protection, marine habitat. Nevertheless, they are subject to a variety of stressors: destruction by boating, the fishing industry, mass tourism. Together with Esther Gonstalla, the eight young people have produced a booklet that will be distributed to stakeholders on the coast of southern France this summer. The group will carry out a detailed stakeholder analysis to find out how the booklet can have the greatest impact in educating tourists and boat hire companies about safe anchoring methods and thus protecting seagrass.
