Friends of Pacific Voyagers and Okeanos,
This is our first newsletter after merging the activities of both organizations and launching the new Okeanos website. You are receiving this newsletter as you have subscribed either to our Okeanos or Pacific Voyagers newsletter in the past. In this newsletter you’ll find updates and blogs of our Okeanos crew from their recently completed voyage from New Zealand to Vanuatu on our vaka ‘Okeanos Vanuatu’ as well as exciting news from our team at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Honolulu and other articles about ocean conservation and science. We hope you’ll enjoy it and you’ll keep following our voyage as we continue to implement a fossil-fuel free inter-island vaka network throughout the Pacific.
Okeanos’ ethos is to support climate change preparedness through innovative and transformative community led solutions to the challenges Pacific Islands are facing. For all who haven’t visited our new website, yet, we invite you to do so at okeanos-foundation.org
and learn more about our projects and the Okeanos advocacy.
Okeanos Vakas during the 2011/2012 ‘Te Mana o Te Moana’ voyage
Most of us from Okeanos are in Honolulu for the IUCN World Conservation Congress at present. If you are around and have a chance please visit us at our booth number 520 on the first floor in the exhibition hall to get to know more about our plans for a pan-Pacific vaka network and fostering a renaissance in Polynesian Voyaging.
Mahalo nui, ka kite ano and nga mihi nui,
